Thai Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) carried out a “Trust No One” operation in pursuit of crypto scammers and managed to arrest seven Chinese nationals operating crypto fraud and money laundering.
In the primary episode of the operation, the CCIB carried out raids at six suspicious places within the Sri Nakarin neighbourhood of Bangkok and arrested two Chinese nationals together with a 31 yr previous man named Xao Xian Su and a 25 12 months old lady named Qi Yi Yee.
The two Chinese nationals reportedly used fake social media profiles to perform investment scams luring victims into investing in a defraud crypto enterprise. The whole harm caused to victims across the world was over 10 billion baht, with 2.5 billion baht inside Thailand alone.
An officer carried out further operations till they discovered one other two Chinese nationals who were concerned in the crypto scam.
Officers later found that there were extra members of the gang still at large. The rest of the gang members had been liable for money laundering. They transferred the fraudulent cash into luxurious properties in Thailand.
The police then carried out raids at 25 places in Bangkok yesterday and arrested three extra Chinese scammers including 54 12 months old Zhang Han Lin, 29 12 months outdated Zhou Lu, and Liu Jiayu. Zhang Han Lin was also topic to an arrest warrant issued by Chinese authorities.
The first two criminals had been arrested at a luxurious resort within the Rama 9 neighbourhood, whereas another one was arrested in Soi Sukhumvit one hundred and one within the Phra Khanong neighbourhood of Bangkok.
At the luxurious resort, officers seized 4 million bahr in money, deeds of possession for three luxurious condominium items valued at 44 million baht, three luxurious automobiles, a bank account, a pill, designer model bags, and faux passports.
The authorities revealed they intend to return the seized assets, valued at over 600 million baht, to the victims. Additionally, the remaining confiscated belongings shall be gradually repatriated to victims each within Thailand and throughout the globe.
