After attempts to lure a hot-tempered elephant back into a wildlife sanctuary failed, locals in the village the place the elephant has wreaked havoc, destroying plantations and killing an elderly lady, have put up an indication – although the elephant can not read – telling the animal to go away.
Park officers in eastern province Prachin Buri were ordered to detain the 25 year old elephant, named “Sidor Noke,” and produce it again to the Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary. The aggressive elephant has been roaming around the Khao Mai Kaew sub-district for the previous three months, raiding plantations and killing a 73 12 months old girl as she was picking greens and fruit.
Officers tried to lure the elephant again into the forest, however the animal returned to the community and plantations in search of food. Other elephants from the same herd also began wandering across the space. Even although the elephant cannot read, the residents determined to place up a sign to tell the elephant to go away.
The sign said… “Dear Sidor Noke, the entire residents are affected by your invasion. Controversial destroyed food and killed our friend. Please go away. This is the human space, not for elephants… from Khao Mai Kaew residents.”
Invitation only at the second are monitoring the situation and are engaged on bringing the entire elephants back to the forest. Reports say elephants might be roaming the plantations because of a scarcity of meals and water within the forests during a summer drought..
