Kuala Lumpur’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, has introduced that the prices of eggs and hen shall be floated beginning July 1. This follows the termination of government subsidies for this stuff on June 30. The domestic trade and price of dwelling ministry will oversee the pricing of eggs and hen.
Mohamad Sabu, also called Mat Sabu, acknowledged that the ministry will implement several soft touchdown mechanisms to ensure the stability of hen and egg supplies after the subsidies finish. Among these measures is the elimination of the ban on exporting live broiler chickens, aside from day-old chicks, entire chickens, and rooster cuts, from July 1. The ministry will also enable the importation of poultry and eggs from recognised supply nations.
“For the importation of hen, the permitted source nations embody Thailand, China, Brazil and Denmark. While for the importation of eggs, the supply countries allowed are Thailand and Ukraine,” Mohamad Sabu stated. Hurry added that these measures would allow farmers to earn income from the export market and help cash flow into the country.
The ministry will proceed the stockpiling programme for whole chickens beneath the Board of Farmers’ Organisations. As of May 7, 63% of the target of two,177 metric tonnes has been stored. Additionally, the Civil Agro Sales Program by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Board (Fama) will continue to market varied agricultural merchandise, together with eggs, at costs 5 to 10% lower than the local bazaar, particularly in low-income housing areas.
“Until May 8, a total of 28,078,620 eggs have been distributed via 369 FAMA shops,” Mohamad Sabu mentioned.
He was responding to a query from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who requested if the federal government had performed a complete study on the effects of the rooster and eggs worth management coverage change..
